Want to stay back after studying in Australia? Current Shortage Skills Occupation List for Australia for 2019

Make sure your skills are on this list. If you have been thinking about studying in Australia and eventually living and work permanently, you will have to meet a number of immigration criteria and your occupation or skill attained from your course of study should be listed on Australia’s Skilled Occupations List Australia’s Skilled Occupations List is further divided into three categories; Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and Regional Occupation List (ROL).  Each of these categories has its own set of rules, allowances, and limitations. Occupations marked as being included in the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) will, for instance, allow the holder to live and work in Australia for up to four years while jobs listed as Short-term Skilled Occupations (STSOL) will allow the visa holder to live and work in Australia for 2 years. If your occupation is listed on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), you may also qualify for a Skilled Independent Visa but if it is listed as the short term  you must apply for skilled migration via nomination by an Australian State or Territory Government. I will advise that students should choose to study for occupations on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) because this occupation will enable them to apply for the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) (Points-tested) stream. Features: This stream is for Points-tested skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government. It allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident. So this means you do not need to have a job or an employer that will sponsor your Permanent residency visa.
